Garryowen Community Development Project is a registered charity and volunteer led organisation whose main aim and mission is to empower local people to be actively involved in meeting the needs of their community.
We are working together to develop sustainable services and facilities for all members of the community with the aim of making Garryowen a better place to live.
We are grounded by the principles of Community Development of:

We deliver a range of programmes and activities in the community that address community needs including:
- Health, Wellbeing and Activity based programmes for all ages
- Adult Education courses
- Clubs and groups for Older Adults
- Events and activities that promote participation in the community by all ages
Garryowen Community Development Project are seeking to recruit a treasurer to join the Board of Directors.
The Board are particularly interested in individuals with recent and relevant experience in working with statutory regulators.
Core responsibilities will include the following:
- General and financial oversight of funding, financial planning and budgeting, financial reporting and record keeping
- Complying with policies and procedures covering the finances of the organisation
- Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetings and any additional commitments
- Policy development and implementation as required
- Provide advice and information to ensure financial security
- To review the risk register, especially in regard to financial sustainability.
Essential/Desired Skills/Qualities required:
- An appreciation and knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector
- An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values
- Commitment to highest levels of corporate governance
Board meetings:
There will be at least 8 board meetings per year and the post holder may be asked to join/lead a sub-committee.
Meetings are held on location (Garryowen Road, Limerick City) with occasional opportunity to allow for online attendance.
