Position Description

Chair of the Board We are seeking a visionary and committed Chairperson to lead our Board of Directors as we continue our vital work and expand our impact. This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership to a passionate and mission-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Governance
  • Chair board meetings, ensuring effective structure, participation, and decision-making
  • Guide the board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities in alignment with our constitution and legal obligations
  • Strategic Oversight
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations and board to set and review strategic direction
  • Provide leadership on key initiatives and organisational growth
  • Representation & Advocacy
  • Serve as a spokesperson and ambassador for Hero Hunter Foundation at public events, stakeholder meetings, and with government or media when required
  • Compliance & Accountability
  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards
  • Monitor financial health, risk, and organisational integrity
  • Board Development
  • Foster a positive and productive board culture
  • Support board member recruitment, succession planning, and skills development
  • Fundraising & Partnerships
  • Guide major fundraising initiatives and cultivate relationships with key supporters and partners
  • What You Bring
    • Experience & Knowledge
    • Previous experience as a board member, ideally within a not-for-profit or charitable organisation in Australia
    • Completion of a relevant governance qualification such as the AICD Company Directors Course or Chartered Director
    • Sound understanding of governance, compliance, and fiduciary responsibilities
    • Skills & Attributes
    • Strong leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
    • Strategic thinker with a collaborative approach
    • Excellent communicator and relationship-builder
    • Compassionate and values-aligned with a desire to support vulnerable families
    • Well-connected within the corporate, philanthropic, or community sectors
